Sam & Steph in Ottawa

 Tuesday, April 27, 2010

My brother and his family came to Ottawa this past weekend to visit me.  It was really nice seeing him, Steph, the boys (Hong and Seph), and baby Sienna.  She was so cute with her big brown eyes.  I took them to Parliament Hill, the Rideau Centre, and the ByWard Market.  While at the ByWard Market, we stopped at Le Moulin de Provence for the famous Obama cookies.  Barack Obama had stopped in this bakery for some Canada cookies when he came to Ottawa.  Ever since then, the cookies have been one of their most popular items.

While my brother was in town, we stopped off at IKEA and got me a tv stand for my tv.  He helped me hook up my tv and gave me the HDMI cable from his tv.  Thanks Sam!

I was really happy to see my brother and sister-in-law.  It is very rare that we get to sit down together and really talk.  When we all meet up in Toronto, we all have other obligations - like catching up with our own friends.  That we don't have that much time together.  While they stayed with me, we got to spend a lot of quality time together and I got to know Steph a little bit better.

I am very appreciative that they made the 8 hour journey to Ottawa, just to see how I am doing.  Seeing them leave was sad for me.  Nowadays, I get teary-eyed with every good bye.  When I look at my tv, I am reminded of my brother's visit.

Thanks Sam & Steph.  I hope you guys come back to visit me later this year.

Turning a New Leaf

 Thursday, April 22, 2010

As promised, I decided to give the look of my blog a bit of a change.

April 17th marked the beginning of a new chapter of my life. I've spent way too much time in the dumpster and now it is time for me to emerge from the garbage and make a fresh start.

I am looking forward to the summer ahead. I will be spending much of my time working on myself and doing things I enjoy. For example:

  1. Continue taking yoga on a weekly basis.
  2. Sign up for the Wilton Cake Decorating course at Michael's
  3. Take up tennis again. I still want to learn the inside-outside forehand
  4. Build my wine collection. There are 2009 Bordeaux Futures coming up. :)
  5. Experiment with different recipes.  There are many things I've always wanted to try but never had time.
  6. Continue to write in my journal. It is very therapeutic for me.
  7. Catch up with friends. I have lost contact with some friends and it's time to reconnect.
  8. Summer badminton is up in the air. Most of my friends are likely joining the badminton club at the RA Centre.
  9. Bring my orchid back to life.  It's been flowerless for a long time due to neglect.  :(
Ok, maybe everything on the list won't get accomplished.  But I am going to try and stick to this list.  Hopefully this summer, I will have happy things to blog about.

Cheers,
pudgy

Life is too short

 Wednesday, April 14, 2010

In the last four months, I experienced some of the darkest days of my life. It was like a preview of hell.
But life is too short.
Life is too short to sit around and be unhappy.
Often, we go around in circles wondering why we are in this melancholic state.

This summer, I am making a promise to myself to live my life to the fullest.
Rid myself of the things that allowed me to get complacent.
Do the things I've always wanted to do (ie. learn that inside-outside forehand stroke)
Focus on me for a change.
Most importantly, to be happy regardless of what happens. It can't get any worse than 1Q2010.

Come April 17th, I will turn a new leaf.

Pudgy

April Fool's Day

 Thursday, April 1, 2010

I haven't posted in a long time. Sorry my fellow readers. I have been super busy with things. You know, it is tax time. :(

Anyway, I have to update the look of my blog soon. The picture is so cold looking with all that snow. The weather is supposed to hit 25 degrees Celsius in Ottawa this weekend. Woohoo! I'll have to find a more suitable picture for the season.

Time to put away those heavy sweaters and coats.
